There are several types of Demand Manager participants:
Plan owners, analysts, approvers, and reviewers who use the Demand Plan process app to submit proposed plans, approve them periodically, and monitor them through their life cycle. For setup details, refer Assigning Users to Demand Plan Roles.
Product managers, product owners, and release managers who manage incoming requests from submittal, analysis, planning, and execution. For details, refer to Assigning Users to Business Request Roles.
Resources who will work on items associated with demand items assigned to plans and Demand Plan users who will link plans to work item projects. For details, refer to Work Item Users.
Plan owners, analysts, and stakeholders who use Demand Center to work with and monitor demand items and plans. In most cases, these users are the same as Demand Plan users. For setup details, refer to Demand Center Users.
Team members who will be allocated to work items. For setup details, refer to Preparing Resources and Time Capture.
Users who can customize Demand Center, manage user accounts and resources, share plans and views with groups, create SBM projects from plans, and other administrative tasks. For details, refer to Administrators.
The information in the following sections assumes that you have created SBM user accounts for these participants (except for resources who do not need SBM accounts). For additional guidance, refer to Managing Users.
In SBM Application Administrator, assign users to the following roles in the Demand Plan application. For best results, assign these roles at the Demand Plan project level so they are inherited to child projects if they are added.
| Role Name | Description | Minimum Product-access Level | User Field Assignments | Enabled Transitions* |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Demand Plan Administrator | Assign this role to users who will administer the Demand Plan application. Ideally, these users are also granted the product-access level and privileges discussed in Demand Center Users. | Varies. Refer to Administrators. |

You can use any SBM project to track work items associated with demand items.
Assign the following privileges to resources and Demand Plan users as needed.
| Process App/Project | Privilege | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Work Item | View Items | Required for resources to view the Demand
Widget.
Also required for Demand Plan users who will associate existing work item projects with plans. |
| Work Item | Update Items or Transition Items | Required for resources who will associate work items with demand items. Essentially, resources must be able to edit work items. |
| Work Item | Add Projects (Managed Administration privileges) | Required for Demand Plan users who will create new projects to associate with plans. |
| Demand Item | View Item | Required for resources to associate demand items with work items. |
The Demand Center Users field controls who can use Demand Center. Users must be assigned to one of the roles enabled for this field or added to the field manually in SBM Application Administrator.
Privileges for working with plans are established in the Demand Plan process app. Assign users to the roles described in the previous section to enable access to plans in Demand Center. For example, plan sponsors can use Demand Center to approve pending plans, view the plans for which they are the sponsor, concept approver, or reviewer.
Users who are assigned to the any of the roles in the Demand Plan application can create demand views and share them with other users. Users must be granted privileges in the Demand Plan process app before other users can share plans or views with them. For best results, assign all Demand Center users to applicable roles in the Demand Plan process app.
The reports that can be added to a demand view and the items listed in the view are based on each user's application privileges, however. For example, users who have privileges to view all items and run guest-level reports in the Change Management application can create a demand view to list those items in Demand Center.
If you implement "split" capabilities, you must grant Demand Center users privileges to transition items in demand item applications.
Users require administrative access and privileges to perform the following tasks:
